Breast Cancer & Cervical Cancer Awareness Camp
The Rotary Club of Kolkata Benevolence demonstrated its commitment to community health by organizing an impactful awareness camp on 24th February,2024 focused on cervical and breast cancer for sex workers in the Kalighat area. Dr. Rooplekha Dey and Dr. Mukti Roy, leading medical professionals, addressed the attendees.
During the session, the doctors shed light on the insidious nature of cervical cancer, often remaining asymptomatic until advanced stages. Stressing the importance of regular screenings, they aimed to instill a sense of urgency in the audience. For breast cancer, emphasis was placed on the significance of self-examinations and mammograms, with a detailed explanation of how early detection can be a lifesaver. The doctors also delved into the common symptoms and causes, such as limited access to healthcare, poor nutrition, and a lack of awareness.
