Walking Competition for Veterans to bring health awareness to elderly citizens on World Cancer Day
A walking competition for Veterans was organized jointly by NGO HRIDAM and Rotary Club of Calcutta Sun City on the occasion of World Cancer Day. The competion was divided into four groups i.e. From age 60 to 80 years (Male and Female) and 80 years and above for (Male and Female). The walk started from Central Park, Golf Green up to Bagha Jatin Park, about 2.5 Km stretch. Around 290 participants registered themselves for the walk with full of enthusiasm. Prizes were distributed at a function at Bagha Jatin Park. Ambulance kept standby for medical emergencies. Lots of liquid and breakfast was provided to the participants. Rtn. Dr. R. Hom Chowdhury, DG Elect flagged off the walk and also gave a speech congratulating all the participants. Caps were distributed from Calcutta Sun City to all participants.
