Sundarban Widow Project

RCCP has launched a new project in Women’s Economic Development in Gosaba, Sundarban. It aims at sustainable livelihood for impoverished Sundarban widows, many of whose family members were killed by tiger attacks. RCCP with working with its RCC PEHS, and TSRD. A cohort of 20 women beneficiaries are identified for this pilot project, that will run for 3 years. Local surveys were used to assess their individual needs, also skills and resources available for generating income from fruit and vegetable plantation, animal husbandry and farm fishing. A team visited on 15th Oct and kickstarted the project RCCP will ensure timely progress and reporting of measurable outcomes during this period as these women move towards self-sufficiency. RTN Aditi Dey is the Project lead. Others involved are RTNs Aniruddha, Sachin, Nabanita, Soumya, Utpal , Babita and her PI team and others
